Sinful Colors: Irish Green

Sinful Colors "Irish Green" was featured on their Spring Neon display. The color is a bit neon, but not as much as I would have thought/hoped. It doesn't pop on black, like the other neon colors, and really isn't NEON BRIGHT. It's a lovely bright green color, although it does take 4 coats to achieve full opacity, and honestly, I might go with 5 coats. It's a pretty color, but definitely not a must-have. Sinful has much prettier greens, in my opinion, and if you want a true neon green, I would check out Milani's neon collection. That being said, this would be a GREAT color for a St. Patty's Day manicure.

Breakdown

Coats to Opacity: 4
Application: A bit difficult to work with.
Drying Time: 2 mins.
Dries: Halfway between Matte & Glossy
Removal: Easy. No staining.

Sinful Colors is available at Walgreens, Rite Aid, & Meijer

Pure Ice: Flirt Alert

"Flirt Alert" is a creamy pink color, and is my go-to for spring/summer pedicures. It is so easy to apply, and dries like a dream. You can achieve opacity at one coat, but I used two coats for a bit more color & shine.

Breakdown

Coats to Opacity: 2
Application: Very smooth & even. No streaking.
Drying Time: 1-2 mins.
Dries: Glossy
Removal: Easy. No staining.

Pure Ice is available at WalMart & retails for $1.79

Confetti: Happy Birthday!

This was my first purchase of the Confetti brand of color. Confetti is a gorgeous deep purple flecked with purple glitter. It's almost a jelly consistency, and applies a bit streaky for the first two coats. But by coat #3, it's all evened out. It's very glossy, and if you add a top coat (I always use top coat), the glitter just POPS!

I have read online that this particular brand is hit or miss regarding brushes. Many many people purchase the brand, and get it home, and the brush is curved, bent, or just...strange. I made sure to check the brush before purchase, as I do with every brand. There were two of this particular color, and the one I left at the store had a bent brush. ALWAYS CHECK BRUSHES! :)

Breakdown

Coats to Opacity: 3
Application: A bit streaky for first two coats.
Drying Time: 2 mins.
Dries: Glossy
Removal: Easy. No staining.

Confetti is available at CVS exclusively. Not all carry this brand, though, so it's a bit of a limited brand. It retails for $1.99

Wet 'n' Wild: Sage in the City

Wet 'n' Wild's "Sage in the City" is from their new(er) Fast Dry Collection, is a beautiful light green shimmer. This color would be lovely on it's own, or used for layering. A lot of polish loads itself onto the brush, so be careful with application, as it can get messy.

Breakdown

Coats to Opacity: 2
Application: A bit tricky, as the brush holds a LOT of the polish.
Drying Time: 1-2 mins.
Dries: Shimmery
Removal: Easy. No staining.

Wet 'n' Wild is available at WalMart, Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, & Meijer

Wet 'n' Wild Jezebel & L.A. Colors Sparkling Diamonds

"Jezebel" is from the Wet 'n' Wild Wild Shine collection. It's a beautiful medium deep red with slight shimmer. It's one of my favorites in my entire collection, and the price (93 cents), makes it a MUST HAVE! If you've never purchased Wet 'n' Wild before, go to your local Walgreens, and pick it up IMMEDIATELY. ;)

The only 'problem' with this polish, is that it did stain my nails slightly, but with an additional application of remover, the stain was mostly gone.

Breakdown

Coats to Opacity: 2
Application: Smooth. No streaking.
Drying Time: Quick (about a minute)
Dries: Glossy
Removal: Easy. Slight staining, but with a bit more nail polish, comes off.

Wet 'n' Wild can be found at WalMart, Meijer, CVS, Walgreens, & Rite Aid, and the Wet Shine Collection retails for $0.93

L.A. Colors "Sparkling Diamonds" is a wonderful glitter overcoat with a mixture of small silver glitter, along with larger hexagonal silver glitter. It applies evenly and smoothly, and adds a fantastic accent to your base color. I'm not a fan of using glitter as your only coat, so I'm not sure how many coats it would take to get a full opacity, but it would be MANY, as the small silver glitter is more present in this polish than the larger glitter.

Breakdown

Coats to Opacity: N/A
Application: For a large glitter, this applies very evenly & smooth.
Drying Time: 2 mins.
Dries: N/A
Removal: The small silver glitter comes off easily, but the larger pieces are a bit more difficult.

L.A. Colors can be found at Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, and at some pharmacies (so I've heard, I buy mine at Family Dollar), and retails for $1-$2.50 ($1 at Family Dollar & Dollar Tree, and around $2 online).

New York Color: #248 Manhattan

I've been a fan of the N.Y.C. brand since I was about 13 years old. I'm not sure when they developed their new formula, the "In a New York Minute" Quick Dry, but I love it! The new colors they've put out in the new formula are fantastic. And it's a much smoother & neater application than the previous NYC colors.

"Manhattan" is a beautiful deep purple/plum color. It's definitely a 2 coater, though to full opacity, as the first coat will come out extremely streaky, and will look like you have two different colors on your nail. But once that second coat goes on, it's plum-tastic! I think I'm going to stash this one until Fall, as it's just too dark for Summer. But come October, it's going to be a winter staple of mine, I'm sure.

Breakdown

Coats to Opacity: 2
Application: Smooth & fluid. A bit streaky, but once top coat is applied, it is mostly free of streaks.
Drying Time: 1-2 mins.
Dries: Glossy
Removal: Easy. No staining.

New York Color is available at Rite Aid, Meijer, & WalMart, and retails for $1.89 per bottle.

Pure Ice: In The Mood

Pure Ice's "In the Mood" is a light blue, almost periwinkle shimmer polish. It's a very thin formula (as a lot of Pure Ice's colors are), and took me four coats to reach an acceptable opacity. This would be ideal for layering, although it looks spectacular for a summer pedicure!

Breakdown

Coats to Opacity: 4
Application: Smooth & fluid.
Drying Time: 1-2 mins.
Dries: Shimmer/Glossy
Removal: Easy. No staining.

Pure Ice is available at WalMart, and retails for $1.79 per bottle.

Sinful Colors: Neon Melon

Sinful Colors is one of my favorite brands. It's inexpensive ($2 a bottle!), there's a plethora of colors, and I've not yet been disappointed with a bottle I've bought.

I love neon & I love Sinful Colors, so I was very excited when I saw the neon collection at my local Walgreens, and promptly purchased 3 of the neon colors.

"Neon Melon" is a BRIGHT (and I mean BRIGHT!) highlighter yellow color. It was bright in the bottle, but once it's on your nails, it's insane. And when you go in the direct sunlight, they are blinding. Love it!

Note: All photos were taken inside with flash, unless otherwise noted, due to the fact that we've had rain everyday for the past week.

This polish does dry a bit streaky, and I've been using it primarily as a base coat under my crackle nail polish.

Breakdown

Coats to Opacity: 2
Application: Smooth & fluid. A lot goes onto the brush, though, so you'll want to watch how much you've got on the brush before applying to your nails.
Drying Time: Quick (about a minute)
Dries: Matte
Removal: Easy. No staining.

You can find Sinful Colors at Walgreens, Rite Aid, Christmas Tree Shops, & Meijer. They may be available elsewhere, but these are the stores in my region where I have purchased them in the past. They retail for $1.99 per bottle.

Hello Blogger world! I'm what you would call a nail polish addict. I can hardly resist the urge to pick up a color or two every single time I leave my house. And if I enter a drug store, all bets are off! I love variety, and I also LOVE saving money (I mean, really....who doesn't?!), so with the rare exception, I won't pay more than $3 for a bottle of polish (and my faves are $2 and under!) While I love OPI colors, China Glaze, Essie, etcetera, I just can't justify paying that much. (Although China Glaze is becoming harder to resist, and they aren't super expensive).

This blog will be for reviews, new things I learn around the interwebz regarding new products, and of course....SWATCHES!

I'll be going through my collection, and start swatching soon.

Go-to brands:
Sinful Colors
Pure Ice
Wet 'n' Wild
